The average annual compensation for outside members of Canadian corporate boards increased by 18.2 per cent, from $17,505 to $20,707, from 1998 to 2000, according to the latest update of The Conference Board of Canada's Canadian Directorship Practices benchmark data. Trends in stock compensation, evaluation, functioning and composition of Canada's boards are explored, along with comparisons across sectors and industries.
